Hello Bookworms!
Happy Holiday Season! 2020 is almost over. Almost.
Today I have for you my first two tags (!) and, as you will see in this post, I am currently trying my hand at emojis. Let’s see how this goes.
—- THE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE TAG —-
I know I’m a lot late because they stopped selling pumpkin spice mix at Costco. 😭😭😭
So let’s forget for a second that it is now peppermint season and continue on.
Thank you Cherelle @ a bolt out of the book for tagging me in my very first tag! Cherelle’s blog is pretty, pink, and so amazing for being only a few months old. So go check her blog out if you haven’t already!
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
A BOOK YOU DIDN’T THINK YOU’D LOVE
Maybe because it’s a dystopian from 2011? I was pleasantly surprised and really really liked it.
There’s superpowers and in my books that is enough said. But I don’t know what’s going on with main boy Warner.
HOT APPLE CIDER
A BOOK THAT GOT YOU A BIT HOT UNDER THE COLLAR
I always cringe reading sex scenes, but 15-year-old me enjoyed this book enough. Can I trust 15-year-old me? (Eh)
Enemies-to-lovers. Rom-coms. You can’t go wrong.
PEANUT BUTTER HOT CHOCOLATE
A BOOK THAT FELT LIKE A WARM HUG
This is my favorite Sophie Kinsella book! The romance is light and cute. Something about the British setting makes me feel cozy. Maybe the familiarity? I’m not British though, I’m from Seattle.
MAPLE PECAN LATTE
A BOOK YOU ENJOYED THAT WAS HARD TO GET INTO
It took me a few tries and two years to actually pick this book up and complete it, but I did it.
This book emits summery vibes but is also quite long for a contemporary. Though once you are captured by the story, which hopefully you will be, the pages fly by.
Also, this has got to be one of my favorite book covers! 😍
LONDON FOG
A VANILLA CHARACTER
My younger self loved The Selection but: America Singer. She was pretty boring now that I think of it. And the love triangle in those books is atrocious. 🤮
HOT BUTTERED RUM
A BOOK THAT WAS VELVETY SMOOTH TO READ
This book is literal perfection.
It’s like a decadent chocolate cake. And nothing can top the best chocolate cake.
Nothing.
PUMPKIN CREAM COLD BREW
A CHARACTER WHOSE TEMPERAMENT IS ICY COLD
Not in this book, but ACOMAF. Tamlin is not it.
SALTED CARAMEL MOCHA
A BOOK THAT YOU’RE SALTY ABOUT
Ahh love triangles (second mention 🙌) You either come out feeling happily satisfied or majorly salty.
I was more of a Jacks girl. Apparently, Tella was not.
HONEY BEE LATTE
A CHARACTER WHO IS SWEET
Genya Safin was the only person who was kind to Alina when she arrived at the Little Palace. She was a good friend when Alina had none.
GINGERBREAD LATTE
A CHARACTER YOU’D TAKE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Dorian (ToG) is my baby and taking a king home for Christmas. I mean, if I must.
And Christmas with Inej Ghafa (SoC). I’d most definitely be staring in awe a lot of the time. Just being in her presence would be a dream come true.
—- OMG! That Song/Book Tag —-
Tag originally created by Katesbookdate on Booktube.
Thank you Riddhi @ Whispering Stories for tagging me in this music/book combo tag! Riddhi has tons of bookish/music/movie content and I’m amazed at how she does it. If you haven’t yet, go check out her blog!
MY JAM
A song you have to listen to no matter how many times you’ve heard it before
and
A book you’ll never get sick of
Ella has one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard in my life and this duet (w/ Louis Armstrong) got me hooked on jazz. ❤
I am convinced I will never get sick of The Princess Diaries. They are simply fun. Also Michael Moscovitz was my first book-crush and I will forever swoon.
THROWBACK
A song that reminds you of the cringiest time in your life
and
A book you read that you wouldn’t like if you were to read it now
Not exactly cringy, but it was not a good time to be Kirsten’s immune system the summer of 2015. And you know how popular songs are always on the radio? Yes, this did not help its case.
I read this back when I was 13. 13-year-old me did not have many expectations. Yet still…
REPLAY
A recent song that you have on repeat
and
A recent favorite book
Since it’s Christmas time. And if you don’t listen to Pentatonix, who are you?
Isn’t this everyone’s favorite.
(Ok not everyone’s but close.)
GETS ME
A song that is literally me
and
A book that is me in book form
Any song with the word ‘dream’ in it is my type of song. And any Disney song.
I am a soulless disaster. Jkjk.
But this book is. 🥰
WUT
A weird song that you liked anyways
and
A unique book that stuck out to you for some reason
Weird, no. Weird that I listen to it voluntarily? Yes. If anyone has seen This Is Us, that show and this song will make you cry. 😥
This book was odd and atmospheric. The whole setting and story had this very still, empty feeling. Depressing, yet peaceful.
Never Let Me Go was a book that read like a foggy day. And foggy days are my favorite.
LET’S GO
Pick your best pump up song
and
A book that inspires you
🖤 Bad bitch vibes 🖤
Years ago, this book introduced me to beautiful Switzerland. It inspired me to want to travel to here and everywhere else.
CHILL
Your best relaxing song
and
A book you’d curl up with on a rainy day
H.E.R.’s voice is angelic. 😇
A collection of fantastical short stories to pass the time inside. Leigh Bardugo is an amazing storyteller.
ADDICTING
A guilty pleasure song
and
A light, trashy read you can’t help but love
Basically any ABBA song. Watch Mamma Mia. It’s such a good movie musical!
The ultimate guilty pleasure YA romance.
NOSTALGIA
A throwback song you look back on fondly
and
A book you read and loved when you were young
Country Taylor was a lifetime ago.
This was one of the first fantasies I ever read and it was absolutely magical. The story takes place in a sort-of haunted house and there is a black cat, amongst others. And the main character Olive can walk into paintings! 😮
Now I will tag a couple of people for the OMG! That Song/Book Tag. Put this in your pile of tags to do in the next couple of days, weeks, or never.
Cherelle @ a bolt out of the book
Ahanna @ Windows to Worlds
Lilly @ Lillys Little Library
Pilar @ The Bookworm Shelf
AND YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE!
ok so excuse my awkwardness, and
I loved reading your answers to all of these questions!! I’m honestly glad I never got into the Selection series. I tried two times, but… yeah. It doesn’t sound like it would be for me 😅 And omg SoC as chocolate cake is the perfect comparison 😍 Great post Kirsten!!

I don’t think I would’ve liked The Selection if I read it now either. So its the nostalgia for me.
And I used to only eat vanilla cake but chocolate cake when done well is perfection 😍😍😍
I’m glad you liked the post Abby! ❤

Yes! Chocolate cake 😍 And ya, Leigh Bardugo one of my favorite authors. I just need to read King of Scars and Ninth House (that one I’m scared of).
Whenever you do the tag, I hope you have fun!

I love The Selection but that love triangle is not it 😬 Your commentary was hilarious Kirsten!! I loved it 😂 What you said about Glass Sword though… I might not read it now 🤣🤣
Wonderful answers!! And thank you so much for tagging me ☺️

Well… I wouldn’t want to exactly deter you from Glass Sword because I’ve seen some people who love the Red Queen series.
But if you didn’t like Red Queen, definitely STAY FAR AWAY FROM GLASS SWORD because you will definitely not like it. Unless you want to hate read it 🤷♀️
And thanks! I hope to see your take on the tag one of these days!

I actually started Red Queen and DNF’d it. I was thinking of giving it a change, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it 😬 But thank you for your input Kirsten!!

Don’t worry I feel the exact same way about Shadow and Bone. But then Leigh Bardugo created a masterpiece with Six of Crows.
And I’m currently on a mission to read all of sjm’s books!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I still have to get to six of crows after I am done with the trilogy. And I am pretty sure you will accomplish the mission because her books are just soo addictive. I started my mission this year February and it took two months. Still haven’t read crescent City. But rest all down! Only one to go😁😁. Hope you like them!
